The Effects on Rehabilitative Exercise on Pain Degree, Bone Mineral Density, and Muscular Functions in Patients with Knee Osteoarthritis
Jee Yong-Seok

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes of pain degree, BMD, and muscular functions in elderly people who have been to suffer from OA in both knee joints after 36 weeks¡¯ rehabilitative exercise programs. Twenty elderly were classified to two groups. One experimental group(n=10) had taken part in therapeutic program 5 days per week and the other control group(n=10) had not taken. Results of inspections were as followed: 1) the pain degrees were significant differences in groups, times, and interaction. 2) total BMD was significantly changed in both groups. Especially this change was by leg and spine parts¡¯ BMD levels. 3) In the isokinetic muscular functions, there were significant differences in right and left legs in 60¡Æ/sec, 180¡Æ/sec and 240¡Æ/sec respectively. Thus I could inspect that the rehabilitative exercise programs decrease the pain level and increase the BMD and muscular functions in elderly with knee OA.
